When I was in Chennai then I witness this place. It is so enjoyable and lovable that will force you to visit again. My office mates recommend this spot for weekends plan. Here I am sharing some of Talakona Waterfall.
What and Where is Talakona Waterfall?
Talakona is 270 feet (82 m) waterfall located in Sri Venkateswara National Park, Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh in India. Talakona is the highest waterfall in the Andhra Pradesh state. It is also known for the Lord Siddheswara Swamy Temple, which is located close to the waterfall. It is nearby Tirupati. The meaning of Talakona in Telugu is ‘head hill’.
How To Reach Talakona Waterfall?
Talakona Waterfall is located in Sri Venkateswara National Park, Chittoor District of Andhra Pradesh in India. To Reach Talakona Waterfall you have to go either Chittoor or nearby city Tirupati.
Nearest Airport: Tirupati – Tirupati Airport – Renigunta (75 Km)
Nearest Train Station: Tirupati Railway Station (65 Km)
If You planned for Talakona WaterFall come in September to January. It is the best time to visit Talakona WaterFall. Come to Tirupati then from there it is very easier to reach Talakona Waterfall. From Tirupati, you can hire a private cab/car/jeep and you can reach Talakona falls(nearby falls).
Journey Details From Chennai To Talakona WaterFall.
We have planned the road trip on Bike from Chennai to Talakona Waterfall. It is one of my best trips as because we are following the road through Bike with my Office colleagues. It is approx 200 Km from Chennai to Talakona Waterfalls and it takes estimated 4:30 hrs to reach.

We started our journey with 10 friends on bikes with proper safety and necessary equipment. We made one plane route that where we have to stop and where we have to meets.
For everyone this route is new so it is more interesting for everyone to explore the route. We started our journey at 8:30 pm (Local Time) on 11.02.2017. we all are full-on excitement. We fill our bike tank completely to avoid any type of issue related with the petrol and started our journey.
It took 2 hrs to leave the city and reach on Chennai -Tirupathi Highway (Thanks to Traffic). everyone gets spread out due to this and then we reach Chennai Highway at 11:40 pm where other friends waiting for us.
We all crossed the Tamil Nadu border and make our first stop at 100 km at one of Village.
We all took a small nap there under fire camp and again started our journey in morning with fresh mood and more excitement.
Now It is only 100 Kms left to reach Talakona Waterfall. We all had small tea, snacks, and some photo shoots. we are again on Highways and this time we are in the full mood of enjoyments. Our bike speedometer always shows speeds at 100-120 km/h.
Sharp 11:00 am we reach the Talakona Waterfalls.
Tracking with friends (John Judas, Krishna, Vickey, and Chandru).
We enjoyed there and return back by evening and reach Chennai back in 5 hrs only with 3 brakes and each of 15 mins.
It was a memorable journey for every one us.
Things to keep in mind while going Talakona Waterfall on Bike!!!.
- Always Keep Bike Tank Full.
- Keep all the original Bike Paper and also keep one Xerox copy in Your Bag (Must for Night Journey).
- Cellphone full Charge with extra power bank.
- If you are new to road take the help of Google maps.
- Make Whatsapp group it will help easy to track who is where if you travel in a group.
- First Aid Kit.
- Try to keep the weight of the backpack as minimum as possible
How Much Will It Cost from Chennai to Talakona through Bike?
If you going Talakona on Bike then it will hardly cost you Rs. 2,000 apart from feeding and lodging. Total 50 Rs as entry fees you have to pay at Talakona to make an entry in Sri Venkateswara National Park.
